On the 14th of August we took a break from our screens for our 2023 team building day.
With the team spread across different offices and time zones, much of our day-to-day work happens over video calls and pull requests. Team building is our chance to spend real time together, to put faces to Slack handles, and to get to know the people behind the commits.
A day together
The day was deliberately unstructured. There were no slide decks and no roadmaps, just good company. Colleagues who usually only meet in code review finally had the chance to talk about something other than merge conflicts, and a few friendly rivalries were settled once and for all (or at least until next year).
Ending with dinner
We finished the day around one long table in a wood-panelled dining room, sharing good food, good wine and plenty of stories. Old-timers swapped tales of the early days of Dreams AI, and newer members of the team shared what drew them to the company in the first place.
